Living in Minster, Ohio
German heritage, championship-caliber school athletics, local industry and one of Ohio's best-loved Oktoberfest celebrations give Minster a community identity all its own.

Minster Oktoberfest: A Village Tradition
For one unforgettable weekend each fall, Minster's German heritage takes center stage. First held in 1975, Minster Oktoberfest now draws an estimated 80,000-plus visitors for German food, live music, polka dancing, a spectacular Sunday parade, the Oktoberfest 10K and beloved contests such as the beer tray relay and jug hoist.
The celebration is about more than a festival schedule. Local clubs, churches, youth organizations and volunteers make it happen, and food booths help raise funds for community causes. The festival fills the heart of town around Fourth Street, Centennial Park and Oktoberfest Park, bringing generations of families and friends together.

Downtown, Parks and Everyday Life
Minster's compact downtown, independent businesses and gathering places offer the kind of community atmosphere that extends beyond festival weekend. Minster Machine Centennial Park includes a gazebo, open lawn and veterans memorial, while Oktoberfest Park across Fourth Street features a distinctive dance area. Families also enjoy the village's recreational parks and sports facilities.
Minster Wildcats: A Multi-Sport Tradition

Minster's Wildcats are a major source of village pride. As members of the Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC), student-athletes compete in a range of sports, including cross country, track and field, football, basketball, baseball, softball and more. The girls' cross-country and track programs are especially well known for their championship traditions. Like many area schools, Minster celebrates multi-sport athletes and strong community support across seasons.
Manufacturing and Local Roots
Minster is home to Nidec Minster, whose roots in metal-forming machinery run deep in the village, and a Danone North America yogurt manufacturing facility. Danone's local supply chain connects to MVP Dairy near Celina, linking area agriculture with food production in Minster. The village's working heritage includes manufacturing, skilled trades and family-owned businesses.
St. Augustine and German Catholic Heritage

The twin Gothic towers of St. Augustine Catholic Church rise an impressive 190 feet above Minster, crowned by 8-foot-tall crosses resting on 3-foot-diameter orbs. Added in 1874 to a church whose brick nave dates to 1848, the towers were inspired by the cathedral in Munster, Germany, a striking tribute to the village's German Catholic roots. The present copper crosses, gilded with gold leaf, were installed in 1929. It's a remarkable landmark in Ohio's Land of the Cross-Tipped Churches. Learn more from the parish.
A Little History, A Lot of Community
Founded in 1832 by German settlers as Stallostown, the village later took the name Minster. Today, its heritage is visible not only in historic buildings and the Minster Historical Society, but in the food, music, traditions and volunteer spirit that continue to shape life here.
